How we check.

A product page tells you what a device can do. The checker and planner take those same features and work out how they fit the setup you’ve entered. Here’s what goes into that answer.

Start with the right model

We match the product name, model number and generation before adding its features. Regional versions stay separate when their hardware or services differ. A local sales listing is recorded separately from the features themselves: being sold in your country doesn’t answer every compatibility question.

Look at what each feature actually does

“Works with Apple Home” or “supports Matter” can cover several different functions. We look for the specific ones described in the documentation, along with any hub, software, account or paid plan they need.

Compare those requirements with your setup

Your phone and watch models, software versions, country and chosen equipment are used wherever a feature depends on them. A lock’s app might work for everyone in the house while a Wallet key is limited to particular phones. That’s why it helps to add everyone who needs access.

The Wi-Fi and hubs section is for equipment you already have. Add it there and the results can account for it. If you’re starting from scratch, leave it empty; any required equipment will be listed with the feature. Ordinary pairing and app setup appear as instructions.

Read the result for that feature

The label applies to the feature beside it. A device can have several confirmed features and another that needs a hub or paid plan.

✓ Confirmed
The feature is documented and matches the recorded requirements for the setup shown.
• Has requirements
It needs the equipment, software, subscription or other condition named in the result.
× Not supported
The documentation rules this feature out for the setup shown.
◷ Announced
The maker has announced it, but we haven’t confirmed that it’s available yet.
? Not confirmed
We can’t settle the answer from the information available. The details explain the missing information or disagreement.

Follow the sources

We use product manuals, setup guides, manufacturer support pages and compatibility lists from the relevant app or platform. Each feature links to its sources and shows when they were checked. These are documentation-based results; we haven’t physically tested the products.

If a feature’s evidence goes more than 90 days without a review, it returns to Not confirmed. Conflicting official information gets the same treatment until it’s resolved. That applies to the affected feature, rather than wiping out everything else documented for the device.

The extra models suggested after a comparison come from the same device category. Their order reflects the recorded feature results for your filters; build quality and long-term reliability haven’t been rated.
